Terri Lynn Recipes Brown Sugar Walnut Chicken
This easy weeknight dinner is the perfect blend of sweet, savory, and a little spicy! Featuring our delicious Black Walnut Pieces.
Ingredients
- 15 oz Chicken meat (light or dark)
- ½ cup Chopped onion
- ½ cup Chopped red pepper
- Olive oil (3T + 3T)
- ¼ cup Brown sugar
- 2 tbsp Red wine vinegar
- ¼ cup Soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
- 2 Garlic cloves, minced
- Pinch of red pepper flakes
- ½ cup Terri Lynn Black Walnut Pieces
Directions
- Cut the chicken into bite sized pieces.
- Heat 3T olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Season the chicken lightly with salt and pepper to taste.
- Add the chicken into the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally. Don't cook the chicken all the way through. Remove from the pan.
- In a small bowl, mix the other 3T oil, brown sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, dijon mustard, garlic, and red pepper flakes.
- Reheat the pan the chicken was cooked in over medium heat. Add the onions, peppers & walnuts into the pan. Cook for 2-3 minutes on high.
- Add the sauce.
- Add the chicken back into the pan.
- Cook until the sauce thickens and the chicken is well coated. Stir frequently.
- Remove from heat and serve. (Delicious with steamed white rice!)
